Oxnard Man Jose Gutierrez Fuerte Dies in Accident on East Bard Road

 
Oxnard, CA (March 19, 2021) – On Thursday, 28-year-old Oxnard man Jose Gutierrez Fuerte died in a tragic crash on East Bard Road.
 
Officers responded to the crash scene at about 2:35 p.m. at the intersection of Davis Court.
 
The victim was driving a 2003 Nissan 350Z. At the same time, a 30-year-old Oxnard man was driving a 2003 Ford Explorer.
 
Both vehicles sped westbound and for unknown reasons, crashed.
 
Afterward, the two vehicles propelled across the eastbound lanes and crashed into a tree on the south sidewalk.
 
Unfortunately, both of the vehicles caught fire.
 
Responding officers described one of the vehicles as well-involved with flames.
 
Firefighters said that one of the parties, Mr. Gutierrez Fuerte, died at the scene.
 
Moreover, the Ford Explorer driver suffered minor injuries. Rescuers took him by ambulance to Ventura County Medical Center, where he was said to be in stable condition.
 
Officers closed East Bard Road for hours between Saviers Road and Justin Drive as they investigated.
 
Similarly, authorities believe speed was a contributing factor to the incident.
