Jose Guillermo Mendez-Orduno Dies in East Aviation Parkway Solo Vehicle Crash
Tucson, AZ (June 26, 2021) – Early Friday morning, a 23-year-old Jose Guillermo Mendez-Orduno died and his two passengers sustained severe injuries after their car crashed on East Aviation Parkway.
The fatal crash in Tucson happened before 4 a.m. on June 25.
Officers responded shortly after and found the 1996 Acura 2.5 TL in the dirt area east of the roadway in the 4100 blocks of East Aviation.
Tucson police said in a news release that Mendez-Orduno was driving eastbound at a high speed and failed to negotiate a curve, causing the car to hit a curb and to flip.
Three people were then found outside of the car. Moreover, all three people were reportedly not wearing seatbelts.
Mendez-Orduno was declared dead at the crash scene.
Authorities then took the two passengers to St. Joseph’s Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Further investigation is still ongoing.
