2 People Injured in Santa Ana Police Pursuit Accident on Tustin Avenue
SANTA ANA, CA (April 26, 2021) – Saturday night, authorities arrested Jose Gelacio Carreravasquez following a police chase crash on Tustin Avenue.
At 8:20 p.m., deputies tried to stop a white Nissan pickup truck driver for an undisclosed code violation. This initial incident happened near East Katella Avenue and Wanda Road.
However, the driver fled and the deputies and Orange Police briefly pursued them, said Orange County Sheriff’s Lt. Todd Russ.
By 8:24 p.m., they terminated the pursuit, OCSD spokeswoman Carrie Braun revealed.
As the truck drove south on Tustin Avenue, it failed to yield at a red light. Then, it hit an eastbound van on Santa Clara Avenue at 8:25 p.m., Santa Ana Police revealed.
As a result, two van occupants sustained major injuries, and required hospitalization.
Also, responders treated the pickup driver for injuries. Afterward, the authorities arrested Jose Gelacio Carreravasquez on suspicion of driving while intoxicated and evading arrest.
Subsequently, authorities held him in lieu of $100,000 bail Sunday. Ultimately, the suspect will appear in court Tuesday, April 27.
