52-Year-Old Cyclist Fatally Struck by Semi-Truck near Pacific Highway South

FEDERAL WAY, WA (May 6, 2018) – A collision between a bicycle and a semi-truck claimed the life of a cyclist, late Sunday morning. The victim was later identified by the King County Medical Examiner’s Office, as 52-year-old Jose Fileto.

According to the Federal Way Police Department, the deadly collision happened at around 11:18 AM on South 320th Street, just east of Pacific Highway South. Reports on how the accident unfolded were not immediately available, only that it involved a bicycle, driven by Fileto, and a semi-truck, whose driver was left unidentified.

Fileto succumbed to the multiple blunt force injuries he suffered, and was pronounced dead at the scene. The truck driver was reportedly unharmed.

Affected areas were shut down for several hours to give way for the Major Accident Investigation Team’s investigation (MAIT). Authorities are still looking for what might have contributed to the fatal crash, but alcohol or drugs were already disregarded as factors. No other information is available to the public at this time.
