Lawndale Man Fatally Struck by Car on 405 Freeway at Artesia Boulevard
TORRANCE, CA (May 5, 2019) – A man was killed in a pedestrian crash early Sunday morning in Torrance, CHP officials said.
The crash happened around 4:25 a.m. on southbound 405 Freeway at Artesia Boulevard.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a male pedestrian was walking southbound on the freeway when he was struck by a vehicle.
First responders found the man lying in the slow lane with fatal injuries. The victim, identified as a 60-year-old Jose Cigarroa of Lawndale, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The southbound traffic was being routed off at Redondo Beach Boulevard for the on-scene investigation. All southbound lanes of the freeway were reopened at 8:00 a.m.
No information was provided if the car’s driver remained or fled after the crash. It is also unknown if charges has been filed and liability has not yet been determined.
