Jose Cerron Pronounced Dead in South Fairfox Road Auto Collision in Arvin
Arvin, CA (April 22, 2020) – Tuesday morning, 66-year-old Jose Cerron, of Arvin, was killed in a two-vehicle crash in South Fairfax Road.
First responders arrived near the corner of South Fairfax Road and Bear Mountain Blvd after receiving crash reports around 5:41 a.m., on April 21.
According to reports, a 2007 Dodge Caliber was traveling south on Fairfax Road when it made a left turn onto Highway 223 and struck a 2002 Chevy Suburban heading west.
There, the SUV rolled and eventually pinned on the east shoulder of the road.
CHP later confirmed that one of the six occupants identified as Cerron, was pronounced dead on the scene while others sustained minor injuries.
Meanwhile, three occupants in the Dodge also sustained minor injuries and were taken to a local hospital for further aide. However, there has been no update on their current condition.
Officers don’t suspect that any drugs or alcohol were involved in this accident at this time. Police say the victims were farm workers, and were on their way to work at the time.
Furthermore, officers closed the surrounding area of Highway 223 at S. Fairfax Road for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties. However, it has since re-opened. No more details have been given.
