4 Killed, Vincent Calvo Arrested in DUI Crash in Santa Ana

Jose Avila-Rosas, Ziomara Zaragoza, Antonio Santibanez and Prisma Montoya Killed in DUI Crash in Santa Ana

 
SANTA ANA, CA (February 17, 2019) – Four people died following a DUI crash early Sunday morning in Santa Ana.
 
The fatal crash happened around 2:30 a.m. at Fourth Street and Tustin Avenue. According to reports, a Jeep ran a red light and broadsided a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck. A surveillance camera at a nearby gas station recorded the entire crash.
 
Due to the impact, the pickup truck caught fire and trapped the four people inside the burning vehicle.
 
An off-duty West Covina firefighter came upon the accident and tried to extinguish the flames, according to the Orange County Fire Authority. Meanwhile, his wife, an off-duty nurse, gave aid to a patient who was later taken to the hospital.
 
All four victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
 
The victims were identified as 31-year-old Jose Alberto Avila-Rosas of Santa Ana; 23-year-old Ziomara Zaragoza of Garden Grove; 23-year-old Antonio Alonso Santibanez of Orange; and 34-year-old Prisma Yuliana Montoya of Santa Ana.
 
Avila-Rosas was behind the wheel of a Cherolet pickup truck.
 
The Jeep driver, identified as 28-year-old Vincent Michael Calvo of Buena Park, survived the deadly crash. Reports indicated that Calvo sustaining only minor injuries. He was treated at a local hospital before being arrested on suspicion of DUI, according to police.
 
Calvo remained behind bars Monday and was being held on $4 million.
