Jorge Villanueva Dies in Tragic Head-On Collision on FM 106 [Rio Hondo, TX]

Rio Hondo, TX (November 24, 2023) On 42-year-old Jorge Villanueva of Rio Hondo was killed in a head-on collision on FM 106.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the fatal 2-vehicle crash happened around 10 a.m. on FM 106 near Nelson Road.

Reports say that the driver of a brown Chevrolet Silverado attempted to pass another eastbound vehicle, consequently crashing head-on with the westbound brown Saturn Outlook driven by Villanueva.

Authorities pronounced Villanueva dead at the scene, while the Chevy driver sustained injuries and was taken to Valley Baptist Medical Center and then flown to DHR Health in Edinburg.

DPS says that the truck driver will be facing charges once he is released from the hospital.
