2 Men Killed in Tuolumne County Auto Accident on Highway 108
TUOLUMNE COUNTY, CA (June 19, 2020) – Last Tuesday, Jorge Maciel and Salvador Espinoza died in a box truck crash on Highway 108.
Tuolumne County Sheriff’s spokesperson Deputy Nicco Sandelin identified the incident as a solo-vehicle crash.
Furthermore, they identified the deceased San Jose residents as 29-year-old Jorge Maciel and 47-year-old Salvador Ponce Espinoza.
At this time, the police didn’t disclose the actual cause of their death. Furthermore, the circumstances that have led to the crash remain unknown. However, the police revealed that the two victims were probably employed by a moving company.
Last Wednesday, the authorities reported that the truck left the highway at about 9000-elevation mark on the pass at a hairpin turn, just west of the Mono County line.
Meanwhile, the CHP Sonora Unit officials said that the vehicle was last seen in the Bridgeport area on Monday night. Moreover, the wreckage where the truck was involved was discovered by noon on Tuesday. According to reports, a passerby noticed the crash wreckage and reported to 911.
Afterward, the authorities found the two men, who both died at the scene.

The authorities revealed that the westbound truck traveling at an unknown speed failed to make a sharp right-hand turn. Then, the vehicle drove across the opposing lane and went off the road. Lastly, the vehicle struck a tree and a large granite rock before coming to a stop.
