Driver Jorge Luis Marquez Injured in Highway 349 Deadly Crash [Midland County, TX]

Midland County, TX (December 3, 2024) – A Freightliner driver, Jorge Luis Marquez, 40, of Horizon City, was injured in a Highway 349 fatal crash Sunday night.

The collision between a Freightliner semi-truck and a sedan on FM 1213 happened around 8:20 p.m. on December 1.

Troopers said the Freightliner towing a trailer was northbound on the highway when it struck a Chevrolet Sonic traveling west on FM 1213.

Unfortunately, the Sonic driver, Manuel Sanchez Velasco, 45, of Fort Bend, was killed in the collision while Jorge Luis Marquez was transported to Midland Memorial Hospital with a minor injury.

According to the investigators, the Sonic disregarded the stop sign at the intersection.
