Man Killed in Corona DUI Accident on Interstate 15 near Weirick Road

 
CORONA, CA (February 15, 2022) – Saturday morning, authorities arrested Jorge Anival Gomez Augustin following a fatal crash on Interstate 15.
 
The incident happened at around 3:00 a.m. on Interstate 15 near Weirick Road. According to reports, 29-year-old Jorge Anival Gomez Augustin drove his Mercedes Benz E-350. As he traveled north on Interstate 15, he crashed into the rear of a Honda CRV just ahead of him.
 
“After the initial impact, both vehicles went off of the freeway. Down an embankment and across the (Weirick) off-ramp lanes,” CHP Officer Juan Quintero said.
 
Then, both vehicles both stopped near the exit ramp. Meanwhile, the man inside the CRV, the sole occupant of the vehicle died at the scene.
 
Jorge Anival Gomez Augustin suffered no injuries in the crash. Then, the CHP officers tested him for a field sobriety test and found out that he was allegedly inebriated.
 
Then, the authorities took Augustin into custody without incident and booked him into Robert Presley Jail in Riverside. He’s facing charges on suspicion of second-degree murder, driving under the influence resulting in death, and DUI resulting in great bodily injury.
