2 Hurt in Oxnard Auto Accident on 34 Freeway and Wood Road

OXNARD, CA (July 23, 2023) – Friday night, 70-year-old Jorge Alvarez suffered injuries in an alarming head-on crash on 34 Freeway and Wood Road.

The incident happened at 5:15 p.m. on the westbound side of the 34 Freeway east of Wood Road.

When officers arrived, they located two wrecked vehicles — a 1995 Nissan and a 2021 Jeep — at the scene.

Both of the drivers sustained moderate to major injuries.

Responders airlifted the Nissan driver, Alvarez of Van Nuys to Ventura County Medical Center with major injuries.

Meanwhile, the 32-year-old Jeep driver from Searcy Arkansas was transported to St. John’s Hospital with moderate injuries.

Meanwhile, the westbound portion of the 34 Freeway was shut down for approximately two hours while CHP worked at the scene.

Furthermore, the authorities urged anyone with information to contact the CHP Ventura Area Office at 805-662-2640.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
