Injuries Reported in St Louis Pedestrian Accident on S 7th Street and Terre Street
ST LOUIS, MO (December 16, 2024) – Thursday afternoon, authorities arrested Jorden Owens after an alarming pedestrian crash on S 7th Street.
According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, the incident began when a license plate reader alerted the city’s Real Time Crime Center to a stolen Lexus from a Chevrolet dealership in O’Fallon, Illinois, around 1:30 p.m.
Officers pursued the driver, identified as 22-year-old Owens after he sped through a red light. Despite police spiking the stolen vehicle, Owens continued driving recklessly, weaving into oncoming traffic at high speeds.
Near the intersection of South 7th Street and Cerre Street, Owens struck a city worker and the worker’s truck, resulting in the worker sustaining a broken ankle. Owens eventually lost control of the vehicle, which came to a stop along a curb. He then attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended while trying to climb a fence.
Owens now faces charges including aggravated fleeing causing physical injury, second-degree assault, armed criminal action, first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle, resisting arrest for a felony, and leaving the scene of an accident. A court date has not yet been scheduled.
