32-Year-Old Skateboarder Struck and Injured by Dump Truck on Mill Plain Boulevard
VANCOUVER, WA (May 8, 2018) – A skateboarder was hospitalized after receiving critical injuries in a collision with a dump truck, on Tuesday afternoon. He was later identified as 32-year-old Jordan Tibbetts.
According to the Vancouver Police Department, the collision happened at around 2:40 PM. Tibbetts was on his skateboard heading north on D Street before entering the traffic at East Mill Plain Boulevard, where the dump truck struck him.
Upon regaining consciousness, Tibbetts tried to get up and leave, but complained of chest pains and had difficulty breathing. He was transported to a local hospital by paramedics that arrived at the scene shortly after the accident.
Vancouver police confirmed that Tibbetts is currently at a hospital receiving treatment for the critical injuries he sustained. The unidentified truck driver was reportedly unharmed and stayed at the scene to cooperate with the investigators. It was also noted that the driver did not show signs of impairment from drugs or alcohol.
