Jonathon Garcia Killed in Pickup Truck and Big Rig Collision in Riverside

 
RIVERSIDE, CA (May 3, 2019) – A 33-year-old man died after his pickup truck slammed into a big rig in Riverside late Wednesday night. The Riverside Police Department said the fatal crash occurred near the intersection of Buena Vista Avenue and Arfon Way shortly before midnight.
 
The Riverside County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim as 33-year-old Jonathon Garcia of Riverside.
 
Investigators believe that Garcia was operating a 2000 Chevrolet pickup truck at a high rate of speed on eastbound Buena Vista Avenue when it crashed into the rear of a 2011 Freightliner. The force of the crash ejected Garcia from the vehicle. Emergency responders pronounced him dead at the scene. The driver of the big rig remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigators.
 
Officials have not ruled out drugs or alcohol as a probable cause of the crash. Anyone with further information is urged to contact the police department at 951-826-8720.
