22-Year-Old Passenger Dies after Car Crashes into Pole at East Casa Loma Drive and Cottonwood Road
CASA LOMA, CA (January 20, 2019) – A passenger was killed following a car accident early Sunday morning in Bakersfield
The fatal crash happened around 3:43 a.m. at East Casa Loma Drive and Cottonwood Road.
According to the CHP, a vehicle slammed into a power pole for unknown reasons. One passenger who was sitting in the back seat was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim was later identified by the Kern County Coroner’s Office as a 22-year-old Jonathan Romo.
The driver and another passenger were taken to Kern Medical Center with minor to moderate injuries.
The crash caused a power outage for up to 2,000 homes and businesses. PG&E crews worked well into the afternoon fixing the power pole.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
