25-Year-Old Lompoc Man Arrested after Head-On Collision near Tefft Street
NIPOMO, CA (August 3, 2018) – Two men were hospitalized early Friday morning after their vehicles collided near Tefft Street.
As per reports, the incident took place shortly before 1:30 AM. A 2010 Toyota was seen heading south in the northbound left lane of Highway 101 at a high rate of speed. Five minutes later, the San Luis Obispo Communication Center received calls that the speeding vehicle collided head-on with a northbound 2006 Ford.
The driver of the Toyota, 25-year-old Emmett Hill of Lompoc, had to be extricated from his vehicle. Emergency crews rushed him to the Marian Regional Medical Center in Santa Maria with major injuries. He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of DUI. Meanwhile, the 49-year-old driver of the Ford, Jonathan Newell, sustained minor injuries and was transported to the Arroyo Grande Community Hospital.
