Homeless Man Run Over in Parking Garage near Via Bufano
SAN FRANCISCO, CA (August 1, 2018) – A man was killed early Wednesday morning after he was run over in a parking garage near Joe DiMaggio Playground. The victim was identified as 48-year-old Jonathan Jones by the San Francisco Medical Examiner’s Office.
As per reports, the fatal incident took place at about 7 AM in the 700 block of Greenwich Street near Via Bufano. A man, believed to be homeless, was in a parking garage when he was run over by an AMG GLE 63s V8 Biturbo.
Jones sustained critical injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the vehicle remained and was cooperating with investigators.
The preliminary investigation suggests that Jones had been sleeping inside the building’s garage when the accident happened. Authorities are still trying to determine whether the collision caused the pedestrian’s death. As of this moment, no charges have been filed against anyone.
