HWY 79 Multi-Vehicle Crash Kills Henderson ISD Student and Henderson ISD Graduate
Rusk County, TX (November 3, 2023) – Driver Jonathan Holland, 18, of Henderson, and his passenger Addison Shepard, 10, also of Henderson, were killed in a Highway 79 collision Thursday afternoon.
The multi-vehicle collision happened around 5:30 p.m. killing a Henderson ISD student and a Henderson ISD graduate.
According to the investigators, Holland was eastbound on the highway in a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado and slowed down to make a left turn.
At the same time, Brianne Shutter, 36, also of Henderson, was traveling behind Holland in a 2019 Jeep Wrangler.
The accident report noted that Shutter failed to control her speed and rear-ended Holland’s vehicle, causing it pickup to cross into the westbound lane of Highway 79, where it was hit by a 2018 Ram 2500 pickup towing a trailer.
Holland and Shepard were both declared dead at the scene.
The paramedics rushed Shutter to Christus Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler, while her passenger was transported to LSU Hospital in Shreveport, LA.
