Kevin Solorzano Hill Arrested in Suspected DUI Crash at 25700 Block of Minkler Road
SEDRO-WOOLLEY, WA (June 19, 2018) – A suspected drunk driver has been arrested for vehicular homicide after causing a fatal crash on Monday night. The deceased victim was later identified as 45-year-old Jonathan Harju of Camano Island.
Around 7:40 PM, Kevin Solorzano Hill of Arlington was driving a dark blue BMW sedan westbound on the 25700 block of Minkler Road at high speeds. He then collided with a gray GMC Sierra pickup truck as it was making a turn onto Peavey Road.
The force of the impact caused the pickup to roll over, and the BMW to burst into flames. Both vehicles came to a rest blocking the eastbound lane of the road. Troopers and medics responded to the scene, after being alerted about the incident, to find the two wrecked vehicles.
Harju sustained critical injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. A second passenger in the BMW, a 26-year-old Sedro-Woolley man, and the 73-year-old Sedro-Woolley man driving the GMC were were injured in the incident and taken to a local hospital for treatment and evaluation. Solorzano Hill also sustained injuries and was booked into the Skagit County Jail after treatment of his injuries. Alcohol or drugs were believed to be a factor in the accident.
Minkler Road was not passable for several hours after the crash, while officials investigated and crews cleaned up the scene. No additional information has been disclosed to the public at this time.
