37-Year-Old Homeless Man Fatally Struck by Car at Beachmont Street and East Harbor Boulevard
VENTURA, CA (February 9, 2020) – A man was killed in a pedestrian crash Sunday evening near the Ventura marina, CHP officials said.
The crash happened around 7:22 p.m. in the area of Beachmont Street and East Harbor Boulevard.
Authorities arrived on scene to find a man down in the street. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
The Ventura County Medical Examiner’s office identified the victim as 37-year-old Johnny Menchaca. Authorities described him as homeless but from the San Fernando Valley area.
The driver remained on scene and cooperated with authorities. No signs of impairment was reported.
It is unclear if Menchaca was walking in the street or crossing the street. The Ventura Police Department is investigating the crash.
