Larrissa Barber Arrested after DUI Collision near Fox Road
WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (November 8, 2018) – A motorcyclist was injured early Thursday evening following a DUI crash near Fox Road. The victim was later identified as 30-year-old Johnathan McCoy, a resident of Blaine.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the incident happened at about 5:43 PM. A red Ford Focus was heading south on Vista Drive when it crossed the center line and struck a northbound 1993 Kawasaki KL650 motorcycle.
McCoy suffered multiple leg fractures and was transported to PeaceHealth St Joseph Medical Center in Bellingham. He was later airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for further evaluation. Updates on his current medical condition were not immediately provided.
The Ford driver, identified as 24-year-old Larrissa Barber of Bellingham, was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital with minor injuries. She was later arrested on suspicion of vehicular assault and felony driving under the influence and was booked into the Whatcom County Jail with a $20,000 bond.
An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the crash and to identify other possible contributing factors. Additional information will be released once it becomes available.
