68-Year-Old Napa Man Fatally Struck by Vehicle near Jackson Street
NAPA, CA (May 31, 2018) – A man was killed Thursday morning after he was hit by a pickup truck while crossing Soscol Avenue in central Napa. He was later identified as 68-year-old John Wilber Stewart of Napa.
As per police reports, Stewart was trying to cross Soscol Avenue, from the Central Valley store toward Napa Valley Car Wash, between Jackson and Tanen Streets. As he was walking, a Chevy Silverado pickup truck struck him, around 11 AM.
Officials transported Stewart to Queen of the Valley Medical Center for treatment, but he later succumbed to his injuries at 1:30 PM.
The unidentified male driver of the pickup truck remained at the scene and cooperated with the authorities. Investigators determined that alcohol and drugs were not contributing factors in the deadly collision. It was also noted that there were no crosswalks near the site of the accident.
No other information has been released to the public at this time.
