John Townshend Arrested in East Broadway Avenue Hit-and-Run Crash [Spokane Valley, WA]

East Broadway Avenue Hit-and-Run Accident Seriously Injures Woman

Spokane Valley, WA (January 31, 2024) On Monday, January 29, deputies arrested 64-year-old John Townshend after a hit-and-run crash on East Broadway Avenue that critically injured a woman.

According to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office, the hit-and-run accident happened on January 24 East Broadway Avenue.

Reports say that Townsend struck a pedestrian and fled the scene without rendering aid to the fallen female pedestrian.

Medics rushed the woman to the hospital, where she remains in critical but stable condition.

Officials say that Townsend was initially arrested for an unrelated misdemeanor theft warrant with his Jeep seized as evidence.

Authorities say that Townsend was reached out by deputies relating to vehicle parts left at the scene of the hit-and-run and camera footage. Investigators say that Townshend’s 2014 Jeep Wrangler, which had damage to its right front fender, matched the parts located at the collision scene.

Deputies arrested John R. Townshend who was booked to Spokane County Jail for failing to remain at the scene or contact police following the hit-and-run.
