68-Year-Old John McLean Dies After DUI Crash on North Ridgeside Drive in Tucson
Tucson, AZ (November 16, 2024) – Tucson Police identified 68-year-old John McLean as the victim in a fatal car crash on Friday morning.
McLean was driving his 2019 Toyota Rav4 eastbound on Broadway around 6 a.m. when a 2018 Ford Explorer, driven by 27-year-old Michael Martin Creel, reportedly failed to stop at a stop sign on North Ridgeside Drive, according to a police news release.
Creel allegedly struck the passenger side of McLean’s vehicle as it crossed the intersection. McLean died at the scene, while Creel sustained no serious injuries.
Police determined that Creel was impaired during the crash. Authorities arrested him on suspicion of manslaughter and aggravated DUI.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
A letter from LD17 Arizona State Senator-Elect Vince Leach confirms the victim in Friday morning’s car crash was the same John McLean who ran and lost to Leach for the seat.
