Driver Dies after His Pickup Truck Overturns on Highway 101 in Ventura
VENTURA, CA (October 3, 2019) – A man was killed after his pickup truck overturned Thursday evening on Highway 101 in Ventura.
The crash happened around 7:34 p.m. at Johnson Drive off-ramp.
According to the CHP, a white 2003 GMC Sierra was heading northbound on Highway 101 approaching the Johnson Drive exit. For unknown reasons, it lost control and left the roadway. It then flipped over at the right shoulder of the off-ramp and landed in a dirt field.
As a result, the driver of the pickup truck died at the scene. Authorities identified him as John Lindgren, 75, of Carpinteria.
Lindgren was wearing a seatbelt, CHP officials said.
No other vehicles were involved and no one else was injured.
It is unknown whether alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
