John Dewit Killed in Palmetto Avenue Motorcycle Collision [Fontana, CA]

Fontana, CA (April 6, 2023) – On April 6, John Dewit, a 57-year-old man Eastvale resident, sustained fatal injuries following a Palmetto Avenue motorcycle collision.

The fatal accident unfolded at about 7:07 a.m. at the intersection with Baseline Avenue.

According to the investigating officers, Dewit was eastbound on a 2011 silver Harley Davidson MC on Baseline Avenue. At the same time, a 34-year-old Fontana woman was northbound in her white 2010 Chrysler 300 on Palmetto Avenue.

The woman stopped at the stop sign before proceeding to the intersection to drive north on Palmetto Avenue. However, Dewit struck the side of the woman’s vehicle, causing him to be thrown onto the roadway.

Immediately, the San Bernardino County fire/medics treated Dewit but succumbed to his injuries.

The woman complained of pain in her neck and was rushed via ambulance to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center.

In the meantime, the Fontana Police Major Accident Investigations Team and the San Bernardino County Sheriff Coroner’s Office are investigating the fatal collision on Baseline Avenue.

The authorities ask witnesses to this collision to contact the Fontana Police Traffic Unit.
