50-Year-Old Palm Desert Man Identified as John Devlin in Fatal Motorcycle Crash near Coachella Valley
PALM DESERT (March 4, 2018) – A 50-year-old man from Palm Desert was fatally injured in a motorcycle accident occurred on Highway 74, on Sunday afternoon around 2:50 PM.
Deputies with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department and Cal Fire personnel arrived at the scene of the crash near mile marker 89, to find a motorcyclist critically injured. Cal Fire called for an air ambulance to transport the victim to medical treatment, but he was pronounced dead on the scene shortly after.
The Riverside Coroner’s Office identified the motorcyclist as 50-year-old John Devlin of Palm Desert. According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident took place on the eastbound lane of the highway, heading toward the Coachella Valley.
Officers redirected traffic for both directions of the road for almost 2 hours. The driver of the Prius cooperated with authorities, and the cause of the accident continues to be under investigation. No other information has been released at this time.
