Two Stanwood Residents Fatally Injured in Single-Vehicle Crash near Milepost 5

SKAGIT COUNTY, WA (July 24, 2018) – Two people were killed Tuesday afternoon following a solo-car crash along Baker Lake Road.

According to the Washington State Patrol, the incident took place shortly after noon near Milepost 5. A maroon 1999 Ford Ranger pickup was heading south when it drifted over the center line and slammed into a tree.

The driver, 74-year-old Stanwood resident, John Allan Gore, and his passenger, a 65-year-old Stanwood man, sustained critical injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger’s name has not been released, pending notification of next of kin.

Authorities noted that both men were secured in a seatbelt at the time of the collision. An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the accident and to identify possible contributing factors. No further details have been provided to the public at this time.
