83-Year-Old Man Fatally Injured in Two-Vehicle Crash near Utsalady Road
CAMANO ISLAND, WA (November 6, 2018) – On Tuesday afternoon, an elderly man was killed in a two-vehicle accident on North Camano Drive. The deceased victim has been identified as 83-year-old Johann Stalf of Camano Island.
According to Washington State Patrol officials, Stalf was driving a 2006 Mercedes-Benz southbound on Utsalady Road when he failed to yield to a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck that was driving westbound on North Camano Drive.
The Chevy driver, 52-year-old Gary Lund of Stanwood, struck the driver side of the Mercedes. Due to the impact of the collision, the vehicle rolled into a fence. Stalf was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where he was later pronounced dead, early Friday morning. Lund was reportedly not injured in the crash.
Alcohol or drugs were not contributing factors in the accident, and the cause was listed as failure to yield. Both vehicles were totaled and impounded by Dick’s Towing. No further details have been disclosed to the public, as the investigation continues.
Our sincere sympathies go out to the family of Johann Stalf. Wishing them strength and courage during this very difficult time. May he rest in peace.
