Injuries Reported in Tempe Accident near Baseline Road and 48th Street
TEMPE, AZ (October 12, 2021) – Monday morning, a 70-year-old jogger sustained injuries in a multi-vehicle crash near Baseline Road and 48th Street.
At about 7:30 a.m., a speeding Ford Flex driver traveled on Baseline Road. Then, the driver hit a work truck driving in the westbound lane.
Afterward, the truck veered right and crashed with a Valley Metro bus.
Meanwhile, the Flex’s driver continued until it crashed into a curb and landed over on its side.
Then, the vehicle continued to the sidewalk until it hit a 70-year-old man jogging along Baseline Road.
Responders took the jogger to the hospital for serious injuries.
Meanwhile, the Flex’s driver showed signs of impairment. They also said that the car should have had an ignition interlock device installed.
Thus, authorities arrested the driver on charges of aggravated assault.
Meanwhile, the drivers of the other vehicles suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
