1 Dead and 1 Hurt in Los Angeles Car Crash on 405 Freeway
LOS ANGELES, CA (February 18, 2020) – A person identified as 43-year-old Joey Trianders Allen died in a wrong-way vehicle crash on the 405 Freeway.
The February 16 incident closed multiple northbound lanes for several hours.
According to authorities, a driver traveled south in the northbound HOV lane at around 2:30 a.m.
Then, the driver’s 2010 Toyota Tacoma truck crashed head-on with Joey Trianders Allen’s car near the Getty Center Drive exit.
Allen, who was driving a sedan, died at the scene. Meanwhile, responders transported the wrong-way driver to an area hospital in unknown condition.
The authorities later arrested the wrong-way driver, identified as 42-year-old Marco Abrego. He was booked on suspicion of DUI, according to the CHP.
By 8:00 a.m., all lanes had reopened. The collision caused significant backups, bringing traffic to a crawl near the scene in the early hours of the morning.
