Joey Branco Killed in Hit-And-Run Accident on Turlock
Turlock, CA (June 22, 2020) – On Monday, Joey Branco was tragically killed in a hit-and-run accident on Lander Avenue and Greenway Avenue.
The victim was struck on his motorcycle in the northbound lanes of Lander Avenue just before 2 a.m.
Ernest Valenzuela called police within an hour to say he was the driver that struck the victim and fled the scene.
Police said Valenzuela was driving a Volkswagen south on Lander. He turned left toward Greenway, then, directly into the path of Branco, who was traveling north.
The motorcycle struck the Volkswagen, and Branco was ejected.
The authorities arrested Valenzuela on suspicion of felony hit and run, and for misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter.
CHP officer Tom Olsen said Valenzuela was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol when the accident happened.

How to Deal With a Tragic Hit-And-Run
It is clear now more than ever that one person’s negligence can have devastating effects on other individuals. This is quite common in accidents that result in death.
It is crucial that the family of the victim becomes aware that they have the authority to file a wrongful death suit.
A wrongful death suit allows families to hold parties liable for the irrevocable damages they have caused.
“I think the misconception is that when a loved one passes away, the insurance company and the defendant will automatically admit liability and offer all of the funds available.”
“Insurance companies will try to save money, even if it means not fully compensating a family for the wrongful death of a loved one. When a family retains an attorney immediately, it gives the family time to grieve their loss, and their attorney can start focusing on holding the negligent party accountable.” says Tyler Toomey, a seasoned attorney at Sweet Lawyers.
