Joe Santos Fatally Struck by Vehicle in Laguna Niguel

LAGUNA NIGUEL, CA (January 08, 2019) – A 58-year-old pedestrian died on Monday, December 31, after being struck by a vehicle while crossing a street in Laguna Niguel.

According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, the incident occurred at the intersection of Serenity Lane and Golden Lantern Street at about 7:30 a.m. 58-year-old Joe Santos of Laguna Niguel was reportedly not in a marked crosswalk when he was hit by a vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigators. Drugs or alcohol was not believed to be a contributing factor in the crash. Carrie Braun of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department described the incident as a “terrible set of circumstances.” She said the driver was not arrested.
