Joe Sandoval of Wapato Killed in Accident on State Route 97 [Yakima County, WA]

Yakima County, WA (September 23, 2024) – 32-year-old Joe Sandoval of Wapato was killed in a pedestrian accident on State Route 97 Sunday.

Troopers said Sandoval was walking northbound on the freeway. 

At the same time, a car driven by a 38-year-old Yakima man was also traveling north.

WSP officers said the 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix left the roadway and struck Sandoval.

Sadly, Sandoval was killed at the scene.

The authorities are still investigating. They said no drugs or alcohol was involved in the accident and charges are pending for the driver involved.
