1 Dead in Fresno Pedestrian Accident near West Avenue
FRESNO, CA (March 4, 2020) – A 67-year-old man died in a pedestrian accident near West Avenue on March 2 in central Fresno.
According to the Fresno County Coroner’s Office, the man who passed after being struck by a car was Joe Mendiola of Fresno.
Shortly after the authorities received a report of the crash at about 7:00 p.m., they arrived near West Avenue and Shield Avenue. Reports revealed that Joe Mendiola walked out into the road and thus the crash occurred.
Responders took him to Community Regional Medical Center, where he later died.
The authorities also revealed that the vehicle involved in the crash was occupied by a mother and her three children. According to the female driver, she feels terrible about the collision.
The officers are still determining whether drugs or alcohol played a role in Mendiola’s walking into the road. They also stated that they smelled alcohol on Joe Mendiola.
