50-Year-Old Man Fatally Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver near Del Taco Restaurant
NORTH HIGHLANDS, CA (July 25, 2018) – A man was killed Wednesday evening after he struck by a hit-and-run driver in the parking lot of the Del Taco on Watt Avenue.
As per reports, the deadly incident took place at about 8:30 PM in the 4600 block of Watt Avenue. 50-year-old Joaquin Gonzalez was run over by a vehicle near the fast food restaurant. The suspect reportedly fled south on Orange Grove Avenue in what witnesses described as a light-colored, full-size pickup truck.
Authorities believe that the suspect is a man in his late 20’s or early 30’s, but there are no further details at this time.
An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the collision, which has been confirmed to be an intentional act. Anyone with information regarding this incident or the whereabouts of the suspect is encouraged to call Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department at (916) 874-5115.
