JoAnne Kilian of Sunnyside Dies in Farm Truck Crash on Bethany Road [Sunnyside, WA]

Sunnyside, WA (October 08, 2021) – On Wednesday, 86-year-old JoAnne Kilian of Sunnyside dies in a farm truck crash on Bethany Road.

The fatal crash took place after 3p.m. at the 5700 block area.

Investigating officers said Kilian on her Honda four-wheeler (ATV) pulled out from a driveway, southbound on Bethany Road.

However, when as she pulled out, she pulled in front of a large farm truck loaded with silage.

The truck driver, a 64-year-old Sunnyside swerved to the left man attempted to avoid hitting her. But the truck’s front bumper struck the back of the ATV and puched it into the opposite ditch.

Afterwards, the farm truck rolled onto its side in the roadway.

Kilian incurred broken bones in her legs and internal injuries. Rescuers rushed her to a hospital where she died. 

On the other hand, the truck driver did not suffer injuries from the accident.

Meanwhile, the authorities said there was no indication of intoxicants or excess speed being factors in the crash.  Also, no charges are expected against the farm truck driver.
