1 Dead in Aguanga Multi-Vehicle Accident
AGUANGA, CA (January 10, 2020) – A 63-year-old woman died in a hit-and-run multi-vehicle accident on Highway 371 on January 3.
The authorities revealed that the man who fled the scene was 23-year-old Antone Wayne Bayard of Anza. According to the police, he may still be in Temecula, San Diego or Anza valley areas, but that he may be attempting on fleeing to Mexico.
Meanwhile, Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner officials have since identified the victim as Joan Terlisner. According to reports, she died at 6:54 a.m. at the scene.
The CHP and other emergency personnel came to the scene at about 6:15 a.m., after receiving reports of a multiple-vehicle wreck on Highway 371 near Wilson Valley Road.
Investigations revealed that Antone Wayne Bayard drove a 2011 Nissan Versa that crashed into the back of a 1986 Toyota pickup, with two Hemet residents inside. The two occupants didn’t suffer injury in the crash.
Meanwhile, the initial crash sent Bayard’s Nissan into oncoming traffic, where it crashed into a 2001 Mercedes-Benz being driven by Joan Terlisner. The Nissan and Mercedes then rolled over, landing on opposite sides of the road.
After Bayard went out of his wrecked Nissan, he escaped the scene on foot. Officers also said that Bayard probably suffered injuries in the collision.
Aside from pending murder and other charges related to the deadly hit and run, CHP also confirmed that Bayard is wanted for an altercation that injured two officers.
