Taylor Steven Brindley Arrested after Fatal Accident at Wilson Avenue
NOVATO, CA (June 5, 2018) – A 70-year-old man died on Wednesday and 2 people were seriously injured after a DUI Crash on Center Road, late Tuesday night. The deceased victim was identified by the Coroner’s Office as Jimmy Hogges of Novato.
The fatal collision occurred shortly after 11:00 PM, at the intersection of Center Road and Wilson Avenue. According to police, 24-year-old Taylor Steven Brindley drove his Jeep through a stop sign on Center Road and rammed into a Ford F-150, driven by Hogges.
Novato paramedics took Hogges and his two passengers from Novato, a 33-year-old man and a 30-year-old man, to the Marin General Hospital with major injuries: broken ribs, a broken collarbone, and a dislocated shoulder. The patient with broken ribs was admitted to the intensive care unit.
On Wednesday afternoon, Hogges succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. Police classified the case as a DUI manslaughter investigation after his death. There is no current update on the other victim’s medical conditions or identities.
The intersection remained closed to motorists until nearly noon Wednesday while the investigation was ongoing.
Police booked Brindley on suspicion of intoxicated driving, reckless driving causing injuries, blowing a stop sign and driving with a suspended license. It was found that Brindley’s license was under suspension for a prior DUI case. He remained in custody as of Wednesday evening at the Marin County Jail. The arraigned judge ordered Brindley held without bail, and is scheduled to return to court on July 17.
No additional information has been released to the public at this time.
