VISALIA, CA (July 7, 2020) – Monday night, Jimmie Cheek and Darrel Cheek died in a head-on crash on Highway 198 in Visalia.
 
According to Visalia police, just after 7:00 p.m., the pickup truck driver headed west on Highway 198. However, he turned onto westbound Mineral King Avenue. As the pickup drove into the eastbound lane on Mineral King, it crashed head-on with a Nissan Rogue.
 
As a result of the crash, the Nissan Rouge’s driver and passenger succumbed to injuries. By Tuesday morning, the police identified the deceased victims as 72-year-old Jimmie Sue Cheek and 77-year-old Darrell Cheek.
 
Furthermore, responders transported the pickup truck driver to a hospital with major injuries. At this time, the authorities didn’t disclose his current condition. However, they already identified him as 30-year-old Devin Terry.
 
The fatal crash remains under active investigation. Moreover, the authorities are trying to determine why Terry drove in the wrong lane.
