Winton Bicyclist Jesus Rodriguez Martinez Dies in Accident on Santa Fe Drive

 
MERCED COUNTY, CA (May 17, 2021) – On Friday night, bicyclist Jesus Rodriguez Martinez, 67, died in a crash on Santa Fe Drive and Chestnut Lane.
 
According to California Highway Patrol, the incident happened at around 10:30 p.m. Moreover, it occurred on Santa Fe Drive and Chestnut Lane in Winton.
 
Reports revealed that a vehicle driven by David Cummins, 35, of Merced, struck and killed a bicyclist.
 
Apparently, Rodriguez Martinez rode his bicycle westbound on Santa Fe Drive, west of Chestnut Lane.
 
CHP Officer Eric Zuniga stated that Cummins was unable to avoid the accident. Moreover, speed does not appear to be a factor.
 
Furthermore, paramedics pronounced the Winton cyclist dead at the scene.
 
Even so, the events leading to the crash are under investigation.
