Injuries Reported in HWY 158 Fatal Crash Injures
Midland County, TX (March 13, 2024) – 28-year-old Jesus Mejia Trejo and 21-year-old Mario Govea Jr were killed in a vehicle crash on Highway 158 early Sunday morning.
It was about 4:40 a.m. when the authorities received the solo-vehicle crash report.
Officers said an eastbound truck was driving around a slight curve when the driver, 36-year-old Braulio Caldarella Lerma, drove at an unsafe speed for wet road conditions. As a result, the vehicle swerved off the roadway and rolled multiple times.
All the five occupants of the truck were ejected.
Responding officers declared Trejo, who was one of the passengers, deceased at the scene.
The other four people were transported to Midland Memorial Hospital, wherein another passenger, Govea Jr, died.
Lerma sustained serious injuries, while the other two passengers suffered minor injuries.
Troopers said they are still investigating this traffic accident.
