Jesus Martinez-Goana Dead and 1 Injured After Crash on 83rd Avenue in Phoenix

Phoenix, AZ (April 15, 2024) – A fiery multi-vehicle crash in west Phoenix on Friday night killed one person, Jesus Martinez-Goana, 21, and hospitalized another. 

Investigators suspect speeding played a significant role in the collision. The incident occurred around 8:30 p.m. near 83rd Avenue and Thomas Road, where Phoenix firefighters swiftly responded to extinguish a car engulfed in flames.

Police identified Martinez-Goana as the sole occupant of the ignited car, declaring him dead at the scene. 

The SUV’s driver, involved in the crash, sustained non-serious injuries. 

According to detectives, Martinez-Goana was speeding westbound on Thomas Road when he collided with the eastbound SUV, attempting a turn at 83rd Avenue. 

The impact sent Martinez-Goana’s car crashing into a tree and subsequently bursting into flames. 

Authorities are still investigating the crash.
