34-Year-Old Jesus Lemus Arrested in Burney Street DUI Crash
Modesto, CA (July 06, 2021) – On Sunday, officers arrested 34-year-old Jesus Lemus in a DUI crash on Burney Street.
The accident happened at about 11 p.m. at the 16th Street intersection.
Apparently, Lemus was driving northbound in a Toyota Camry and struck the victim.
Unfortunately, the unidentified victim died at the scene.
Lemus said he’d been driving on Burney Street when he was distracted by fireworks and thought he might have struck a person.
Moreover, the authorities determined he was driving while under the influence. Also, they said that he may have been speeding at the time of the accident.
Reports said he was with his 12-year-old child at the time of the accident.
Later on, officers arrested Lemus on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter, driving under the influence causing great bodily injury, child endangerment and felony hit & run.
