Tow Truck Driver Dies after Vehicle He’s Loading Rolls Over Him on Highway 101 in Hopland
HOPLAND, CA (November 15, 2019) – A tow truck driver was killed when the vehicle he was loading rolled over him Friday night in Hopland.
The fatal incident happened around 6:40 p.m. on Highway 101 near Comminsky Station Road.
CHP officials said a 47-year-old Jesus Hernandez of Santa Rosa was loading a disabled pickup truck onto his flatbed tow truck on the shoulder of the highway. It appears that the pickup rolled forward causing fatal injuries to Hernandez.
Emergency responders found the flat bed lowered, and all rear white and yellow lights were activated. The winch attached to the disabled pick-up.
Hernandez was lying on the ground near the front of the pickup, which was in neutral gear. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.
The incident remains under investigation. Alcohol and drugs are not believed to be a contributing factor.
No words can mend the broken hearts and sorrow felt during this delicate moment. Our deepest condolences and sympathies are with the family and friends of Jesus Hernandez.
