1 Detained and Jesus Gonzalez Killed in Fresno Auto Accident on Friant Road

FRESNO, CA (June 28, 2020) – On Saturday, authorities arrested Rosalio Galindo Jr. after he fatally struck Jesus Gonzalez in hit-and-run crash on Friant Road.

Moreover, police booked 25-year-old Rosalio Galindo Jr. of Fresno into the Fresno County Jail.

According to CHP, just after 4:00 p.m. on Friant Road near Willow Avenue, the incident occurred. Reports revealed that a 25-year-old man was ejected from a vehicle after it overturned and crashed.

The authorities confirmed that another car appeared to have played a role in the crash.

The police reports revealed that a car was following a curve while driving at a high speed. However, the driver lost control, skidded from the northbound lane, and went across the southbound lanes.

Then, the car landed on its roof by the hill at Copper River Country Club.

Upon the officers and other emergency personnel’s arrival, they located a man down on the road. They pronounced the driver, Mr. Gonzalez, dead at the scene.

Additional Details about the Fatal Friant Road Crash

Investigators are trying to determine how another car played a part in the crash. The CHP said that the vehicle came back to the scene. Thus, the officers considered it a possible hit-and-run violation.

The Highway Patrol stated that the cars probably crashed into each other. However, it’s still unknown whether this led to the fatal crash.

“Following the collision and emergency personnel arriving on the scene, another adult driver responded back to the scene with his passenger and indicated he was involved in this collision,” said Mike Salas, the Fresno Area CHP public information officer. “This driver is an unlicensed adult and is cooperating with the investigation.”

Furthermore, responders transported four people to Community Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

The injured patients were children ages 6, 7, and 14 and also a 21-year-old man. All of them occupied the vehicle that crashed.

As a result of the crash, the authorities shut down the northbound Friant Road and East Copper Avenue during investigation and cleanup.
