Injuries Reported in Castaic DUI Accident on 5 Freeway and Lake Hughes Road
CASTAIC, CA (May 8, 2024) – Monday, authorities arrested Jesus Felix after a disastrous big rig crash on 5 Freeway and Lake Hughes Road.
The incident happened at about 10:30 p.m. on the northbound 5 Freeway, north of Lake Hughes Road in Castaic, said Officer Josh Greengard, spokesperson for the California Highway Patrol.
“(The suspect) was driving an Isuzu pickup truck with a passenger in the front right seat,” Greengard revealed. “(The suspect) failed to brake and rear-ended a big rig.”
The collision left major injuries to the passenger within the Isuzu pickup truck, Greengard added.
When officers arrived, they determined that the Lancaster driver, 25-year-old Felix, was under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. Thus, they arrested him for felony DUI, Greengard added.
Officers booked the suspect at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s station.
At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
