Jesus DeMartinez of Shallowater Killed in US 84 Accident [Lubbock, TX]

Lubbock, TX (October 26, 2024) – Jesus DeMartinez, 35, of Shallowater, was fatally injured following a US 84 accident early Wednesday morning.

It was about 5 a.m. when the deadly pedestrian crash happened on FM 1294.

Investigators said DeMartinez was walking westbound on the highway’s middle of the right lane of travel. 

At the same time, a big rig driven by Richard Cerbantez, 53, of Hale Center, was also westbound. The big rig struck DeMartinez from behind and he was killed at the scene.

The truck driver, on the other hand, was not hurt.

Police said road and weather conditions were clear and dry when the accident happened.
