Driver Dies in Hartley County Big Rig Crash
Hartley County, TX (October 12, 2024) – 31-year-old Jesus Castillo-Rosas of Dumas was killed in a collision on FM 281 Thursday morning.
The collision happened at about 6:40 a.m. on October 10.
Investigating officers said Jesus Castillo-Rosas was driving a westbound 2022 Mack truck tractor towing a semi-trailer.
At the same time, a 2015 Volvo truck tractor towing a semi-trailer had exited a private drive and turned right to travel east on the same highway.
While the Volvo’s turning, the big rig detached from the truck tractor and rested in both lanes of travel.
Investigators said Castillo-Rosas could not avoid colliding and struck the Volvo’s semi-trailer, which made it to turn around and roll over onto its side in the south ditch.
Castillo-Rosas continued westbound and finally rested in the north ditch.
Sadly, he was declared dead at the crash scene.
In the meantime, the authorities are investigating the collision.
